PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday announced to open six Rural Medical Dispensaries (RMDs), within next 72 hours, to ensure that the medical facilities reach to the people living in remotest areas during the ongoing lockdown period.
In a series of tweets, Rane said that during the lockdown period, where most people living in far-flung areas are facing trouble visiting health centres, the instructions are been issued to open six RMDs.

The RMDs will be set up at Quepem, Netravali in Sanguem Taluka, Agonda in Canacona, Thane and Keri in Sattari and Pali or Surla in Sanquelim.
“Strict protocols and standards of procedures will be put in place in view of COVID-19 outbreak. And within next 72 hours, all RMDs and sub-health centres will be made functional,” he tweeted.
Earlier on Sunday, Rane announced to introduce state-of-the-art sample collection kiosks as per Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) guidelines, at different locations to increase the scope of testing.
“With this, we aim to increase the scope of testing more people in the State and reaching closer to the citizens and placing collection centres at different locations,” minister said.
Rane said that the facility will encourage people to come out and give their samples from factory workers, labourers to people, who enter the State.
The State has so far recorded seven positive COVID cases, of which five patients have already recovered.
