Pernem Taluka has three major proposed projects – Mopa airport, Tuem Hospital and the Electronic City whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. While the Mopa airport has been commissioned the Electronic City is laying waste for the last six years with only roads and street lights installed. Former Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar who initiated these projects said he is pained to see this and asks if these projects are kept pending to bring a bad name to him.
Former Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said several meetings with the current Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has not evoked any response to restarting work on the electronic city at Pernem despite the foundation stone being laid by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The link road to the electronic city has not been done and the 10 MLD water plant and the 220 KVA power substation have not been constructed. Now the companies which were interested to set shop here have all gone away and only land sharks will come, Parsekar says.
