SANGUEM, JAN 3
Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) Chairperson Sanjay Raikar has demanded thorough inquiry into the death of Navesh Zore (17) from Chiraband-Uguem, who died due to pneumonia at GMC Hospital in Bambolim on Sunday morning.
Councillor Deepak Marathe and former member of Dhangar Samaj and Uguem Panch Anil Zangale were present along with Raikar during a press conference at Sanguem on Monday.
Navesh is allegedly claimed to have died due to the negligence of doctors at Government Primary Health Centre Sanguem, as the doctors failed in diagnosing the disease on his admission to the Sanguem PHC.
Chairperson Raikar criticized the doctors working at Sanguem PHC for their indifferent attitude towards the patients and called for an immediate surprise visit of Chief Minister and Health Minister to Sanguem PHC.
Incidentally, when Raikar tried to contact the Health Officer at Sanguem PHC over the phone at 6.30 pm, none of the staff members on duty attended to the call. Moreover, when Raikar visited the PHC and sought the mobile number of the Health Officer, the staff refused to give the number.
Raikar sought to know from the staff members as to why they are not giving the number, but they could not give a positive reply. Raikar along with Deepak Marathe and Zangale claimed the existence of the PHC at Sanguem to be not doing any good to the citizens.
“On the contrary, precious lives are lost allegedly due to negligent attitude of the doctors working at the Sanguem PHC,” they alleged.
“This is not the first of such incident to have taken place at Sanguem PHC. Some years ago, the citizens had damaged the hospital premises after a youth had lost life at Sanguem PHC,” added Marathe.
Raikar threatened to lead an agitation to the PHC if the government fails in acting tough against the doctor working at the Sanguem PHC.
and conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident which led to untimely death of Navesh.
