Socorro Panchayat Deputy Sarpanch Narayan Satardekar was on Thursday voted out of office, after a vote of no-confidence motion was passed against him by 6-0 votes in the 11-member panchayat.
It may be recalled that the signatories to the motion Sarpanch Pratima Narvekar, Panchas Sanjay Pednekar, Dittosa Lobo, Shital Arolker, Sandeep Vazarker and Kartik Kudnekar had submitted the no-confidence motion notice to Mapusa Block Development Office stating that Satardekar encouraged illegal constructions, did not take them into confidence while taking decisions on developmental issues and misusing the powers.
The BDO convened a special meeting in the panchayat office on Thursday to discuss the no-confidence notice against the deputy sarpanch. However, the six signatories to the motion attended the meeting, while the remaining five Panchas Narayan Satardekar, Sarvesh Naik, Kirti Asnodkar, Sonia Halarnkar and John Paul Vales remained absent.
G A Bandekar conducted the proceedings of the elections and Panchayat Secretary Subhash Phatarpekar assisted him.
