South Goa Court Acquits Father-Son Duo in 2017 Sanguem Murder Case Citing Lack of Evidence

A sessions court in South Goa has acquitted Ravidas Shirodkar (70) and his son Jai Shirodkar (39) in connection with the 2017 murder of Shantaram ‘Shanu’ Shirodkar in Sanguem.

The court granted the acquittal after observing significant lapses in the investigation and noting that the prosecution had failed to present sufficient evidence directly linking the accused to the crime.

During the trial, the court examined the evidence and testimonies presented by the prosecution but concluded that the case lacked the necessary proof to establish the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt.

With the ruling, both Ravidas Shirodkar and Jai Shirodkar have been cleared of the charges in the case related to the killing of Shantaram ‘Shanu’ Shirodkar.
