South Goa: In a bid to curb rising incidents of illegal bullfights, a high-level coordination meeting was chaired by Egna Cleetus, District Magistrate of South Goa, and co-chaired by Santosh Dessai, Superintendent of Police (South).
The meeting focused on strengthening inter-departmental coordination to tackle unlawful bullfighting activities across the district. Srinet Kothwale, Additional Collector-I, was also present.
Officials issued clear directions to Police Inspectors to take strict action against landowners where such events are being organised. Mamlatdars were instructed to provide detailed records and inventories of landowners to aid enforcement efforts.
Authorities also emphasised preparedness for any law and order situation arising from such incidents. Mamlatdars were advised to immediately contact the emergency helpline 112 in case of emergencies to ensure swift police response and public safety.
The meeting was attended by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Salcete, along with Police Inspectors and Mamlatdars from the taluka, underlining a coordinated approach to address the issue.
