South SP warns anti-social elements of strict action

MARGAO: Superintendent of Police South Goa Pankaj Kumar Singh on Tuesday warned anti-social elements of strict action if engaged in disturbing the peace and harmony at Rumdamol Housing Board.

At a meeting chaired by Pankaj Kumar Singh with the leaders of two religious groups including local representatives in wake of Diwali festival, both the groups assured the SP that no untoward incident will be repeated in the locality.

Speaking to media persons after the meet, the Superintendent of Police said that police force has already been deployed at Rumdamol and they are keeping a close watch on the anti-social elements. 

“After having a number of meetings with the concerned members of both the groups and other leaders I want to assure the residents that effective steps have been taken in order to maintain peace and harmony in the locality,” he stated. 

He further informed that the police are taking more steps and measures to ensure that the anti-social elements will not be able to create any kind of nuisance in the area and no untoward incident repeat.

“I request the residents not to believe in any rumours or to spread wrong information amongst the members of society. Residents are free to contact the local authorities if they have any doubts with regard to the issue. The assistance of people is required in order to maintain peace,” the SP stated. 

He further informed that these meetings are part of various measures that the police are undertaking to ensure that peace and harmony is maintained. 

“Extra police force has already been deployed at Rumdamol. There will be strict patrolling and any kind of nuisance will not be tolerated,” he warned.
