PANJIM: The State government has called for a special meeting on Monday in yet another attempt to restart iron ore exports. Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the meeting will also have the directors of the Mines and Geology and Transport departments present and revision of ore transportation charges will be discussed.
“We need to take a decision on the mining export, decide the rate for the fresh extracted ore which should be acceptable for the truckers,” Parsekar, also the Mines minister, said claiming the government is committed to resume mining operations in the State. He also said the government has already decided certain rates for e-auctioned cargo which is acceptable to the truck owners.
The truck operators have refused to transport ore demanding a hike in the transportation rate of freshly mined cargo. Last month they had turned down Vedanta-Sesa Goa Resources’ offer of Rs 8 per tonne per kilometer.
Meanwhile, on the issue of regularization of unauthorized structures, Parsekar stated they are hopeful to introduce the Bill ‘Regularization of Unauthorised Structures and Encroachments Act, 2015’ in the winter session of the Legislative Assembly.
The residential structures, existing before February 28, 2014 with conclusive documentary evidence issued by a government department only will be considered.
