Speeding Car Hits Two-Wheeler Near Shantadurga Temple, Three Injured; Driver Flees

A serious accident near Shantadurga Temple late Wednesday night left three people, including a child, critically injured after a speeding car collided with a two-wheeler. Eyewitnesses reported that the car, travelling at high speed, hit the two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction, flinging both riders onto the road. The child sustained severe head and leg injuries. All three victims were immediately rushed to the hospital.

Sources revealed that six people were inside the car, with alcohol bottles recovered at the scene, suggesting the occupants were under the influence. The driver fled, abandoning the vehicle, which CCTV footage confirmed was at fault.

Locals, angered by the incident, gathered at the police station demanding immediate action, prompting authorities to deploy personnel to manage the crowd. PWD and panchayat officials noted repeated accidents at the site and called for stricter traffic enforcement.

Calangute Police have registered a case and taken the car for forensic examination while tracing the absconding driver.
