State proposes Rs 5,000 cr highway, road projects

PANJIM: The State government has proposed new works worth Rs 5,000 crore with regards to national highways and roads before the Central government.
Union Highways and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday chaired the National Highways meeting in New Delhi that was also attended by Goa Transport Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar.
Dhavalikar said that during the meeting he proposed new works worth Rs 5,000 crore, which include a new highway stretch of 105kms. He said that the Union minister was positive towards the proposal and this was under consideration.
Asked whether there was any political discussion, Dhavalikar said his visit was purely related to the national highway meeting and no other discussions took place.
