MARGAO: Locals of Varca conveyed their opposition to mega projects in their village at the gram sabha held on Sunday. This issue was a major discussion at the well-attended gram sabha meeting.

The role of the previous panchayat body in granting licenses to these projects also came up during the debate at the gram sabha.
Varca Sarpanch Salesiana Fernandes informed them that they should be looking into the future as addressing the demands of the locals as opposed to going in depth into what the previous panchayat body had done.
The gram sabha also discussed the applications that were sent by the villagers on local issues, which were also discussed.
On another note, all the village-level committees of the panchayat were also constituted at the gram sabha meeting.
