Students urged to join wildlife census

Forest department has called upon the wildlife enthusiasts to join them in the thrilling experience of wildlife census.
The department has especially urged the higher secondary and college students to participate in the exercises. Even the wildlife enthusiasts with background in Zoology/ Botany can be part of one of the biggest kinds of census ever conducted by the forest department.
“The exercise could be adventurous and thrilling experience for the youth and in a way will sensitize them to the realms of nature and expose them to forest, wildlife and management, thus helping in career building,” official said.
Selected volunteers will be imparted appropriate training before the commencement of the census operation. They will also be provided with basic boarding and lodging facilities in wilderness areas during the entire exercise of over seven days.The department has said that the participants must have good health and physique as the exercise requires hiking over long distances through rough hilly terrain.
Interested persons can submit their brief resume in the head office of the forest department, Junta House, Panjim.
State’s forest department is all set to have animal census in Goa’s wild from last week of April, for which the unique camera tap method would be adopted.
