Villagers have therefore requested the Forest department to undertake remedial measures to control the movement of wild animals and birds in these areas.
It is understood that, wild animals and birds, such as wild boars, peacocks and others have created havoc in these areas, as they destroy the standing paddy crop and others plantations on a regular basis which causes tremendous hardship to the farmers.
Manohar Volvoikar, a farmer from this area narrated, “The wild animals and birds, especially peacocks and wild boars have frequently come to areas such as Amefal, Baye, Joshibhat, Konthin, Payyani, Dhavlin, Gaonkarwada and other areas of Surla village over the last few months and destroy crops and plantations due to which farmers are facing acute misery.
He has therefore requested the government to undertake instant remedial measures in association with the farmers. He also informed that, at present measures such as bursting of fire crackers, beating of drums and other activities are being undertaken by the villagers over the last few days, but these things do not deter the animals and birds, laments Volvoikar.
