PANJIM: Dismayed over the failure on the part of authorities to implement their recommendations with regards to changes and repairs to the Kala Academy, the Task Force has now decided to meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for a discussion in this regard.

Task Force Committee chairman Vijay Kenkre on Saturday said that after all the noise that was created about KA renovation and the subsequent appointment of the Task Force, no action was taken with regards to changes and recommendations made by them.
The Task Force rued that nothing that was recommended has been done and the KA is as it was. “We are not happy with the non-implementation of suggestions made by us,” Kenkre said.
“We want to rope in IIT Chennai for structural audit. We want to meet CM regarding the construction, lights and sound changes suggested by the Committee,” said Kenkre.
Kenkre said that on Saturday they discussed the report of the Expert Committee and worked out the exact costing. “None of the construction changes, sound and light changes which were suggested by us had been executed,” he said.
Kenkre said, “We want to talk to the experts and the consultants and want the local theatre groups to perform and give them their feedback.” He also said that nothing is spoken about the collapsed ceiling of the open-air auditorium.
A 12-member Task Force was constituted to review the renovation of Kala Academy works in September 2024. The Committee after inspecting the works had submitted reports suggesting changes and modifications to the Kala Academy building after artistes and Opposition MLAs had flagged the works as a failure.
