MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council on Tuesday launched another initiative to collect outstanding taxes by issuing orders to the Electricity Department and Public Works Department to disconnect power and water connections to persons who are defaulters in paying their taxes.
Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik disclosed that 30 orders were issued on Tuesday to people whose arrears are more than Rs 25,000. “While most of the defaulters are not very well known persons or establishments, they however are quite well to do and can very well afford to clear their arrears,” Naik said.
PWD and Electricity Department have been asked to disconnect the power and water connection given to Yes Bank.
