VASCO: United Taximen Association tired of the problem of parking at the Goa International Airport has decided to meet the District Collector. The Taximen have complained that parking area available for taxis is too little. They have planned to take the matter with the Collector.
There is parking for only 25 vehicles which is fluctuating in numbers. About 350 taxis have been rendering services to the people of Goa and beyond since 1974 here at the Airport.
Yellow Black taxi operator Anand Pednekar said that while those having right to park have no place, vehicles registered with taxi counters at the Airport have been given place for parking.
The aggrieved taximen met the traffic police officials and requested to make necessary arrangements for the betterment of the taxi business.
Herculano Dourado of the United Taximen Union said, “We don’t have space and if we park on the roadsides, we are fined for that. The Collector had given a decision that the other taxis were not to be given place here. Hover the airport director has favoured them and we have no parking space.”
He said that they are going to be meeting the Collector over the issue and resolution.
