MARGAO: Teja Rajesh Kandolkar won the by-election held on Monday, in ward 5 of the Sirsaim village panchayat, located in Bardez taluka. The ward was reserved for the women OBC category and the by-poll was mandated as the sitting panch member had resigned from the position.
While Kandolkar got 123 votes, (45.39% of the vote share), the other candidates, namely Rupam Satish Kudnecar received 77 votes, while Grishma Nikhil Kambli received 63 votes.

The elections were held on January 29, Sunday at the Chamber of the Mamlatdar Bardez.
The Goa State Election Commission (GSEC) had recorded an overall voter turnout of 77.4% with 135 males and 136 females casting their votes. There was no untoward incident during polling.
Elsewhere, it may be recalled that for the other by-poll of ward V of the Arpora-Nagoa panchayat, Julius Austen D’Souza was elected unopposed.
This by-poll was mandated after D’Souza’s father, the former Sarpanch Agustine (Tino) D’Souza, had died.
