PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Thursday made it clear that the party has till date not promised tickets to aspirants and appealed to workers not to believe them since the election process for the upcoming Assembly elections has not yet started.

Speaking to the reporters at Congress House, here, Chodankar said that many workers from different constituencies has brought to his notice that some aspirants have been telling their constituents that the party has finalised/confirmed their tickets for the ensuing elections.
He said that though aspirants have been working in their respective constituencies, the process of shortlisting candidates will start only after party’s senior leaders P Chidambaram and Dinesh Rao announce election process.
“We have not rolled out the election process and therefore the party workers and supporters should not believe them,” he said.
According to Chodankar, as per the laid down election procedure, the respective Block Congress Committees will shortlist the candidates and recommend their names to their District Congress Committee, who will scrutinise these names and recommend them to the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC), who will scrutinise and forwarded the names to the party’s Screening Committee, who will further scrutinise the names and submit them to the Central Election Committee (CEC), who will clear and declare the names of official candidates.
