CANACONA: Scores of people who are preparing for yet another lucrative tourism season on municipal beach coast in Canacona will have to shell out more fees to the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC).
According to CMC sources, the fees payable to the civic body has been restructured and hiked and new rates will be levied to set up and operate tents and shacks on beach-coasts. Tourism operators are also expected to pay an enhanced garbage collection fees.
Sources also informed that applicants have to comply with all norms and pay the requisite fees at the local body level, before seeking a final permit/license from the tourism department.
CMC Chairperson Madhav Dessai informed that the council, in its last special meeting, had decided to enhance the tourism charges. Rates have been revised for each tent (from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500) and shacks (from Rs 2000 to Rs 3000).
The CMC has also levied a 100 per cent net increase as garbage collection fees.
