BICHOLIM: The entry tax was imposed on outstation vehicles at Dodamarg-Bicholim, amid protest from truck drivers who bore the brunt of the maximum tax.
The toll plaza placed near the Dodamarg outpost on Goa boarder evoked angry reactions from truck drivers and they were seen arguing with toll attendants. Some of them complained about the exorbitant toll and felt that the government should reconsider the entry tax.
The entry tax has led to concern among people of a possible hike in vegetables from Belgaum and other states.
“It is likely that there will be rise in price of some commodities as truck operators would directly pass on the tax to the consumers,” feared a resident, Aashish Vaze.
