PANJIM: The Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) has urged everyone to assess the benefits of the DefExpo, especially in relation to tourism, before arriving at any conclusions.
The association felt that such an expo was excellent for the growth or to arrest the decline of tourism as every tourist destination looked forward to such events that add value to the destination and earn revenue to the State.
“The State needs more such events to keep attracting tourists both, international as well as domestic. This could arrest the decline of tourism,” the statement says.
TTAG revealed that hotels in South Goa have already benefited from expo and TTAG would like to record that it is good for tourism. It, however, felt that if DefExpo was going to be a permanent feature it needs to be shifted to April to take care of the off season.
“One cannot take away the huge benefits arising out of the DefExpo and other similar events which need to be encouraged and supported. The expo would add value to the destination besides providing a huge exposure to Goa in the International Market. It can have a multiplier effect in terms of attracting international eye balls and other intangibles,” the statement says.
