Two antique chandeliers from the hall of the Margao Municipal Council have reportedly gone missing, prompting civic authorities to initiate an internal inquiry into the matter.
Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar said she has directed the Accounts and Tax Officer (ATO) along with other municipal staff members to investigate the disappearance of the heritage fixtures and ascertain the circumstances under which they went missing.

Despite the reported loss, no police complaint has been filed so far in connection with the missing chandeliers.
The incident has sparked concerns regarding the security, maintenance, and preservation of valuable heritage assets belonging to the municipal body. Questions are also being raised about the safeguards in place to protect historically significant items housed within civic properties.
Municipal officials are expected to submit a report on the inquiry, following which further action may be considered.
