MARGAO: In yet another successful raid against bootlegging at the Margao railway station, the Konkan Railway police on Thursday night arrested two persons and seized liquor from their possession worth around Rs 20,000.
The seizure was effected by a police patrol party when the two accused natives of Madhya Pradesh were found hiding in the bushes near the railway platform. Finding the movement of the duo suspicious, the police swooped on the duo, only to find bags containing around 150 bottles of different types of liquor brand.
Konkan Railway PSI Dattaguru Sawant told newsmen that the two accused have confessed that they had plans to take the liquor to Kerala by train.
“The KR Police has intensified patrolling at the Margao railway station since there are reports that the station is being used as an exit point by anti-socials to leave the state after committing offences,” PSI Sawant said.
