Two Russian Women Found Murdered in Pernem; Live-In Partner Arrested

Goa Police have arrested a 37-year-old Russian national, Alexei Leonov, in connection with the alleged murder of two Russian women in the coastal region of Pernem. The case came to light after the body of Leonov’s live-in partner, Elena Kasthanova (37), was discovered in their rented accommodation at Arambol. Police said the body showed clear signs of a violent struggle, with visible injuries and her hands tied behind her back. During the course of the investigation, Leonov was also linked to the death of another Russian woman, Elina Vaneeva, a friend of the couple who had been staying in Goa for about a month. Investigators believe she may have been killed around January 14 or 15. Police suspect both murders are connected due to similarities in the crime pattern.
