PONDA: Property worth Rs 3.45 lakh was stolen in two separate incidents in Ponda taluka, Ponda police said.
In the first incident, copper wire worth Rs 2.5 lakh was reportedly stolen from a hardware shop-cum-godown at Kundaim. The incident came to light on Wednesday morning and a complaint was lodged by Kaluram Chaudhary.
According to Ponda police, CCTV footage has revealed that a masked man committed the theft at about 12.30 am. Police suspect that the masked man was aware of the CCTV camera installed since he first went towards the camera and tried to disconnect it after entering the premises. The masked man even tried to cover the CCTV camera with cloth and later diverted the CCTC camera to the other side.
In another incident Rs 15,000 cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 80,000 have been reportedly stolen from a house at Bond-Baag.
A complaint was lodged by Pandurang Gaude and
according to the complainant the incident could have happened between 10 am and 3 pm on Wednesday. The burglars broke open the front door lock and decamped with the booty from the cupboard.
