VASCO: Expressing doubts that the new terminal at Dabolim airport could be made operational by December 3, the day scheduled for its ‘soft launch’, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday felt the new terminal could end up commencing operations only after a month.
While inspecting ongoing work at the site along with officials of Dabolim airport and the construction company, both Sardinha and Godinho told reporters that a lot of work is left to be completed.
“Although the soft inauguration will be held on December 3, the new terminal will be operational only after one month as a lot of work needs to be completed. I do not know why the aviation ministry has fixed December 3 as the date for inauguration,” said Sardinha.
“I will bring this to the notice of the aviation minister on my visit to New Delhi,” Sardinha added.
Concurring with Sardinha, Godinho also stated that it would take at least one month to complete the work.
“As a lot of work is pending, I am of the opinion that the new terminal will be operational only in the New Year,” he said.
