Unfortunate that MPT is demanding NOC from shack owners: South MP

MARGAO: Stating that it is unfortunate that Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) is demanding that the shack owners take No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the trust, South Goa Member of Parliament (MP) Francisco Sardinha on Wednesday sought Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s intervention to resolve the issue at the earliest. 

Addressing the media persons at Margao, he urged the Goa government to take this issue before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi if required.

“The Goa government should not allow the MPT to act like this. It is unfortunate that the MPT is urging for NOC’s from the shack owners. The Chief Minister needs to intervene in the matter. MPT should not go beyond port limits”, he said. 

On the declaration of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections, Sardinha said political leaders or any other Goans should not join Congress keeping in mind tickets to contest. 

“We want party and Congress candidates to win and winnability will be the main factor in selecting candidates. However, the high command will decide on the candidates,” he said. 

Meanwhile, the Congress MP congratulated the Goa government for reducing the fuel prices and called for reducing gas prices.
