RAIA: United Boys of Ambaulim clinched the 33rd Curtorim Panchayat Cup 2025 inter-village football tournament scoring a solitary goal victory over Parish Youth Nuvem in the final organised by Maina Sports Club at the St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Sunday.
In an exciting final, UB Ambaulim missed first chance to score when Soweil Fernandes’ header was well saved by PY Nuvem Goalkeeper Melrico Andrade. Soon UB Ambaulim took the lead through Crimson Fernandes in the 15th minute to make it 1-0 in the first half, which turned out to be the match winner.
In second half, PY Nuvem came close to equalise when Shenoy Colaco’s free-kick just missed the target. Both the teams missed equal number of chances but couldn’t convert it.
Chief guest Curtorim MLA and GIDC Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Curtorim Zilla Parishad Member Michelle Rebello, guest Curtorim Sarpanch Joaquim Estibeiro, St Alex Church Parish Priest Fr Manuel Dias, St Rita Church, Maina, Parish Priest Fr Domnic Savio Vaz, Goa Football Association South Goa Vice-President Anthony Pango, GFA Executive Member Andrew Ferrao, former Curtorim sarpanch Rui Menezes, Curtorim panchayat secretary and panch members, Jacob Ataide, Alistroy D’Souza, Concy Dias, Club President Francisco Rebelo, other club officials and dignitaries.
