PONDA: The Usgao locals, who are agitating against Water Resources Department for laying of 1000 mm dia water pipeline from Ganjem-Usgao to Opa Treatment Plant, filed a complaint against the contractor at Ponda Police Station, on Tuesday.
In a complaint, they stated that the contractor has destroyed the nullah by digging two-metre deep to lay the pipeline disturbing the natural habitat of nullah covering an area of 2.6 kms using heavy machinery.
The locals alleged that during conversation with the contractor and WRD officials, the villagers were threatened by taking the name of Chief Minister.
They further informed that the nullah is also registered in Cadestral Plan.
The locals demanded the police to look into the matter with priority and to stop the work to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, the police asked the both parties — the contractor and locals — to be present at the police station on Wednesday, at 11 am.
