Usgao locals threaten to move NGT against MRF

PONDA: The Usgao villagers, who have been opposing the MRF expansion project in the village, have threatened to move the National Green Tribunal (NGT) if the government fails to stop the same at the earliest.

PONDA: The Usgao villagers, who have been opposing the MRF expansion project in the village, have threatened to move the National Green Tribunal (NGT) if the government fails to stop the same at the earliest.
The villagers have been opposing the expansion project on ground that it would further pollute the already polluted environment. They fear that the expansion project would become a huge health hazard. 
The villagers say that despite their repeated complaints, the Pollution Control Board, Forest Department and the local panchayat have been ignoring to their concerns.
Vasudev Gaude, a local, furnished a copy of the direction issued by the Union Environment Ministry, directing the Principal Conservators of Forests to take note of the grievances of local. 
He lamented that despite the Union ministry direction, no action has been taken by Forest Department of Goa. 
Further, the Central Pollution Control Board had also directed the Member Secretary of Goa State Pollution Control Board to take note of the mass cutting of trees and destruction of environment, Gawde said and regretted that the local authorities have not taken note of their grievances.
