Fifteen-year-olds are usually busy making their mark in age-group cricket. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, however, has already reached the doorstep of international cricket.
The Rajasthan Royals prodigy is reportedly set to make his India debut during the upcoming T20I series against Ireland. If selected for the opening match in Belfast on June 26, Sooryavanshi will become the youngest cricketer ever to represent India, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record.

Born on March 27, 2011, Sooryavanshi would be just 15 years and 91 days old at the time of his debut. Tendulkar was 16 years and 205 days old when he first played for India in 1989, making the teenager’s achievement even more remarkable.
His rise has been nothing short of extraordinary. After grabbing headlines with a stunning century in IPL 2025, Sooryavanshi elevated his reputation further at the Under-19 World Cup, where he amassed 439 runs, including a match-winning 175 in the final, earning the Player of the Tournament award.
The youngster then dominated IPL 2026, finishing as the Orange Cap winner with 776 runs and a staggering 72 sixes. Facing elite bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Kagiso Rabada seemed to make little difference as he continued his fearless batting approach.
Sooryavanshi also impressed in the India A tri-series final against Sri Lanka A, smashing a 17-ball half-century before racing to 94 off just 29 deliveries.
India’s T20I series against Ireland begins on June 26 in Belfast, with the remaining matches scheduled for June 28 and June 30 at the same venue. Whether India alters its opening combination to accommodate the teenage sensation remains to be seen.
However, if recent performances are any indication, Sooryavanshi will not be content with merely making his debut. He will be aiming to make an immediate impact on the international stage.
