MARGAO: In response to the surge of pilgrims visiting the Se Cathedral in Old Goa to venerate the relics of St Francis Xavier, the State government has extended the daily veneration hours by two hours. The new visiting schedule is now from 6 am to 7 pm.

The Exposition, which began on November 21, will conclude on January 5, 2025, and the extended hours aim to accommodate the increasing number of devotees that are visiting in the final days, which had created a rush at the Se Cathedral.
Law Minister Aleixo Sequeira, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Exposition Secretariat Committee, emphasised the importance of facilitating the faithful. “Recognising the overwhelming devotion and large turnout, we have extended the veneration hours by one hour each in the morning and evening,” he said to the media.
The Exposition, a deeply significant religious event, has historically attracted large crowds. The extension of visiting hours is expected to ease the flow of pilgrims and provide more opportunities for them to pay their respects during this spiritually significant period.
