Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday questioned the ₹1 crore allocation for the Mukhyamantri Udaan Bharari Yojana, stating that the amount appears insufficient to support meaningful pilot training.
Speaking during the Budget discussion in the Goa Legislative Assembly, Sardesai pointed out that pilot training in India generally costs around ₹50 lakh per candidate. He asked the government how many pilots it realistically intends to train under the scheme before the 2027 elections.

The Goa Forward Party MLA also raised concerns about whether the allocation matches the scheme’s stated objective of promoting aviation training among Goan youth. He questioned if the funds would be adequate to run the programme effectively or if it would end up benefiting only a select few.
Sardesai urged the government to clarify its roadmap for implementing the scheme and explain how it plans to achieve its intended goals with the allocated budget.
