Pramod Sawant has announced that the Goa government will soon convene a meeting with non-governmental organisations to address the growing problem of stray dogs, particularly along the state’s beaches.
The move comes after a British tourist was reportedly attacked by a group of stray dogs at Cavelossim Beach, triggering fresh concerns over visitor safety in the coastal state.

The issue was raised in the Goa Legislative Assembly by Venzy Viegas. He pointed out that several incidents involving stray dogs have been reported at beaches across Goa in recent months. According to Viegas, some of the cases have resulted in injuries to children and senior citizens.
Viegas cautioned that such incidents could harm Goa’s reputation as a safe tourism destination and urged the government to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.
Responding to the concern, the Chief Minister said the government would hold discussions with NGOs and other stakeholders to work out practical solutions to tackle the stray dog issue in tourist areas.
