This demand was also conveyed to the CM by Velim MLA Cruz Silva who listed the hardships locals face as they have to travel all the way to the Balli PHC for their medical requirements or other clearances that the health centre issues. Silva lamented that at present, there is only a rural medical dispensary, which does not have a full-time doctor either.

Silva also noted how there is a requirement for such a comprehensive PHC owing to the working population at the Cutbona jetty, who also depend on the Balli PHC, which is struggling to cope, given its own vast jurisdiction. The need for a dedicated staff of the jetty has also come up often in recent discussions with the authorities.

Another topic that Silva brought to the attention of the CM was the condition of the Toleacanto ground. He pointed out that the ground has not been used for nearly a decade, as it does not have a suitable turf, despite the fact the ground’s facilities were constructed at a cost of close to Rs 20 crore.
