A devastating explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Virudhunagar has claimed the lives of 25 workers, once again putting the spotlight on recurring safety violations in Tamil Nadu’s cracker industry.
According to officials, 19 of the deceased were women. The powerful blast tore through multiple sheds at the facility, completely flattening at least six structures and leaving several others critically injured. Authorities fear the death toll may rise further as some of the injured continue to battle for their lives.
