PANJIM: Taking a pot-shot at Vishwajit Rane’s entry into the BJP, the Congress accused the leader of being “power hungry” and cautioned the saffron party.
“Vishwajit is known for being power hungry and his move today (to enter BJP) clearly indicates that. Since Congress failed to form the government, despite emerging as the single largest party, Vishwajit was upset as he didn’t want to remain in the opposition for another term. He wanted to be in the ruling side,” Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavalekar told Herald.
Congress accused Rane of insulting those who voted for him with hope and expectation. “He insulted the voters, who supported him for being a Congress leader. With this act, Vishwajit has sullied not only his own image but the fair name of his father Pratapsingh Rane,” Kavalekar said.
Kavalekar, who had earlier termed Jr Rane as a BJP spy, cautioned the saffron party saying that the former Minister cannot be loyal to anyone. “BJP will repent for its decision to induct Vishwajit in the party. He cannot be loyal to anyone. I doubt his stability in the BJP,” the CLP leader said.
