MARGAO: Former India Captain Mohammad Azharuddin in presence of Goa Forward Party Chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai inaugurated the Phoenix walking track and outdoor gym, at Chandrawado, Fatorda, on Saturday.

He said that work of this walking track and outdoor gym started after confirming the date from former India captain. Unity and enthusiasm by Phoenix Club members was the main reason that this work got completed in time.
“Former India captain is a symbol of courage and motivation. He doesn’t have any pride. Cricket itself is a biggest religion in our country and it unifies people,” said Sardesai.
“The name Phoenix is a good reminder to all of us to rise from the ashes. We have seen how Mohammad Azharuddin rise from the ashes. We should too work together to rise from the current ashes and take Goa to new heights to ensure a world class standard of living and restore our unique and culture way of life,” he said.
“Earlier here in Fatorda nothing was public oriented, after you all elected me as your MLA lot of public oriented projects have been brought in by me which benefit all the community here,” added GFP chief.
“2020 was a bad year for the entire world. 2021 is a year of hope. It is the year of youth. We are celebrating 60th year of liberation , but it’s unfortunate that we have to now fight for our second liberation and liberate ourselves from this BJP government led by Pramod Sawant,” said Sardesai.
“During CAA, NRC you all have shown the unity. We have to show the same unity to fight this government. Minority community has stood firmly with me and I will never forget that. You all have played an important role to elect me as your representative and I will live up to your expectations,” added Sardesai.
“Phoenix Club in Chandrawaddo, Fatorda has shown the way forward. It has shown how to create a smart neighbourhood,” said Sardesai.
Former India captain Azharuddin said that you all are safe here because of Sardesai. The way Vijai is working for the people of Fatorda, it’s like he is hitting a triple hundred. It was interesting to know that when Vijai said he took the date from me and later started the work.
“This is something unique and proves that Vijai is a go getter,” said Azharuddin.
“I appeal to the people of Fatorda to stand firmly with Vijai Sardesai and I am sure one day you all will see him as Chief Minister of the state. You all gave me so much of love. I will once again visit Fatorda in near future when you all will call me,” said former India captain.
Phoenix Club President Sameer Shaikh and other prominent members from Chandrawaddo spoke on the occasion.
Former MMC Chairperson Pooja Naik, Goa Forward Vice President Akbar Mulla were present.
