PANJIM: Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro has taken up the work of solving the erratic and irregular water supply at Navelim, Telaulim, Nagmoddem, Sinquetim, Mandopa-Moddi, Cottocamoll and elevated area such as Dongorim.
After 10 years of neglect, the first phase of the new 300 dia pipeline from Zoriwaddo (Davorlim) to Navelim Church will be commissioned on Saturday at 4.30 pm near old Navelim panchayat office. This pipeline will augment regular water supply to Navelim, Telaulim and Aquem Baixo giving a major relief to the people.
Although the 300 dia pipeline has a maximum capacity of pumping 6 kg pressure of water, at present only 4 kgs of water pressure will be utilised to acclimatize the water pressure in the distribution system and avoid bursting of old dilapidated pipelines. Once the pressure stabilises the entire pipeline would be spurred with 6 kgs water pressure to ensure sustained and continuous water supply.
In the second phase, a second 300 dia pipeline will be laid to feed the Davorlim and Rumdamol Panchayat areas thus solving water woes of all the five panchayats in Navelim constituency.
When water pipeline bursts in any area, people have been asked to contact PWD (water supply) Office at Borda or Luizinho Faleiro’s Office which will take urgent steps to restore the water supply.
