Water valve bursts near Kala Academy; highlights negligence of Smart City project authorities

PANJIM: Now almost every incident in Panjim has some linkage or the other to Smart City works. Nearly every day citizens are horrified to find that a road has been closed, stones left on the road by the contractor or there is some rupture or the other.

On Saturday, residents of Campal were shocked to find that there was yet another rupture outside Kala Academy. Thousands of litres of water was wasted as the unfinished work of installing a new water pipeline ruptured a valve. As a result a fountain of water emanated on the footpath all day long. Much as Goa is facing a shortage of piped treated water, no supervisor or labourer was in the vicinity to deal with the problem.
