PANJIM: In a major relief to over 1017 mining workers, Sesa Sterlite Limited on Thursday announced that it would not lay off its workers, who were issued notices on January 4, 2014, but would wait for the government to formulate the mining policy.
“Welcoming the initiative of the state government to formulate a transparent mining policy, the company has decided not to layoff 1017 employees, who were issued notices,” Sesa Sterlite spokesperson said.
The Supreme Court has in its recent order lifted mining ban. Following the order, Goa govt announced that it would formulate a transparent mining policy before allowing resumption of mining.
