With two shopkeepers death, fear grips Cuncolim

CUNCOLIM: In view of lockdown imposed in State and realising the severity of deadly Coronavirus infection, the shopkeepers in Cuncolim have now started to tread cautiously by keeping most of their business establishments shut. 

There was no rush, in the usually crowded vegetable and fish markets.

Barring a few shops, general merchants, garment and cloth shops and tea shops remained closed. Several customers did not take the risk to visit the market for their daily shopping.

Fear has gripped the shopkeepers, as several of them and their workers have tested COVID positive. Recently, two shopkeepers succumbed to the deadly infection.  

A total of 400-odd persons have been infected with COVID in the Balli Health Centre jurisdiction since Thursday. In the last 10 days, five Cuncolim residents succumbed to COVID.
