MARGAO: The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) will take up construction of the multi-storey parking lot at Margao’s pick-up stand only after the land is transferred to the agency by the Town and Country Planning department.
GSUDA had mooted a multi-storey parking lot at the pick-up stand to ease traffic congestion as well as to provide vehicular parking facility in the commercial capital.
GSUDA Chairman Francis D’Souza told newsmen during an informal chat with newsmen that the multi-storey parking lot at Margao’s pick-up stand is still on the agenda of the agency. “We have asked the concerned agencies to hand over the land in question to GSUDA to take up work on project,” he said.
Incidentally, while the GSUDA is pursing the pick-up stand parking lot, the fate of the Municipal resolution seeking construction of a parking lot on the Municipal land at the old market area remains unknown. The civic body had submitted a resolution to the GSUDA to construct a parking lot at the old fish market behind the municipal building and also rehabilitate displaced gadda traders at the old market triangle, but the two projects are yet to see light of the day.
