MAPUSA: Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar along with Tivim MLA Nilkhant Halarnkar visited Tivim Constituency and gave a patient ear to the farmers, who had difficulty in cultivating their fields here.
Farmers complained they faced problems as the fields were inundated with the canal water and crops destroyed as a result.

They said that the canal had developed cracks and was leaking as a result of which their standing crops were damaged time and again.
They lamented that this was a long pending issue and they were knocking at the doors of the WRD and Agriculture Department to solve their problems and nothing positive was happening till date.
Farmers complained that their crops in the kharif and rabi season get damaged every time the canal water enters the fields and requested the Minister to install a pipeline to stop the water from entering the fields.
Shirodkar promised to find a solution to their problems within the next 15 days.
