In a proud mo ment for the “Har Shikhar Par Tiranga” initiative, young mountaineer Bhu kya Yashwanth summited Goa’s highest point, Son sogor Peak, on Saturday (March 28). Scaling the 1,166-metre summit as part of his nationwide mission to hoist the na tional flag on every State’s highest peak, Yashwanth endured a gruelling sev en-hour climb through some of the State’s most challenging terrain. According to Yas hwanth, the route to the summit was extremely risky, lacking proper trails or defined paths, which made navigation through dense forest areas par ticularly challenging.
The region is known for its rich biodiversity, and the team had to proceed cau tiously due to the pres ence of wildlife, including bears, leopards, and king cobras. The terrain, covered with thick vegetation and wild growth, added to both the difficulty and the scenic appeal of the climb. The absence of clear routes and continuous wildlife risks made this expedition one of the most chal lenging among state high-point climbs. Yashwanth expressed gratitude to the Goa Forest De partment for its support and acknowledged the encour agement from senior officials, including Alok Kumar, Kamal Dutta, and Jiss Verkey.
The “Har Shikhar Par Tiranga” mission aims to scale the highest peaks of all 28 Indian States, with Yashwanth as piring to become the first individual to achieve this feat. As part of the mission, he has already summited several prominent state high points, including Mount Gorichen in Arunachal Pradesh, Shillong Peak in Meghalaya, Guru Shi khar in Rajasthan, and Deomali in Odisha, among others. Looking ahead, Yashwanth plans to complete climbs across all States and pursue his larger goal of scaling the highest peaks on all seven continents, carrying the Indian tricolour to each summit. The expedition was supported by a team comprising Ganaba Govind Gaonkar, Deelip Kirkar, Raju Doifudaey, Naydu Gaonkar, Johnrich Fernandes, Ujwal, and Rehaan Shaikh.
