QUEPEM: Tension rent the air at Kapse, Sanvordem on Saturday as the locals stopped ore transportation after 22-year-old youth one Rohan Parsekar was seriously injured in an accident and had to be shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, at Bambolim.
According to the sources, Rohan, who was commuting on a scooter, was hit by a truck at 9 am. The impact was such that Rohan fell and sustained serious injuries after his hand came under the wheels.

Harishchandra Naik, a local said, “Rohan was taken to the Curchorem Community Health Centre in a private vehicle, but due to serious injuries he was later taken to GMC where he is undergoing treatment.”
Another local Nilesh Naik said, “This is a mining area where mining transportation is on. When accident occurred the truck drivers kept Rohan by the roadside and fled. Later, the villagers and local truck owners got together and stopped ore transportation.”
Naik said, “The people blocked ore transportation because they wanted the truck owners to visit the spot and take the responsibility of the accident but they failed to do so and that’s why the locals stopped ore transportation.”
Sources said mining transport at Dhigashre-Kapse was stopped by the locals till 2 pm as all mining trucks were left stranded in one lane from Sanvordem to Kapse.
Ponda Police were present to control law and order at Kapse under the guidance of Police Inspector Mohan Gawade.
