Shiroda KTC bus stand a white elephant for last 14 years

The state-of-the-art Shiroda bus stand built by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has been lying unused since its construction in August 2008. The buses plying from Ponda and Sanvordem route travels through Shiroda.

This bus stand is virtually abandoned by private bus operators and passengers are reluctant to board buses at the bus stand.

All this is due to one main reason. The Shiroda market is located about 150-200 metres from the new bus stand and passengers prefer to alight from the bus at the market. So private buses avoid going to the KTC bus stand.

Of the 12 shops in the bus stand, only three are operational. Since the bus stand is not functioning, most of the shops are shut and thus it has turned into white elephant, locals say.
