HERALD: There was a rumour that some BJP workers were pushing for splitting the alliance with the MGP with the demand being made before chief minister during recent party executive meeting. Is this true?
Vinay Tendulkar: Yes, this was the opinion of some of the workers. But this is no big thing. Everyone has right to express themselves and so they did. But everything cannot be taken seriously.
HERALD: But what is BJP leadership’s take on this?
Vinay Tendulkar: I told you it’s just an opinion and nothing more to be thought of. The fact is that the workers are little overconfident and feel that party should fight elections independently all across country, after BJP broke its alliance with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and other senior party leaders are there to see what is good and what is bad for the party.
HERALD: But why did this come up? Are BJP workers in the MGP ruled constituencies not happy?
Vinay Tendulkar: People are upset about many things. But not just with the MGP. There could be possibility that voters in the constituencies of Ponda, Madkaim and Priol are not happy with the way they (BJP) are been treated. There were complaints that MGP MLAs are not doing their work. The same complaint they have in case of the BJP also. But that does not mean that we should take such a drastic step.
HERALD: So the alliance will continue?
Vinay Tendulkar: Definitely yes! MGP was very much with us during the Lok Sabha elections. We will continue the alliance and fight the forthcoming assembly election together in 2017.
