BAMBOLIM: Over 1000 people from 250 families participated in the second edition of India’s only family marathon Famathon powered by Decathlon and was held at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim, recently.
It received a good response as huge number of families came out comprising of two to six members who ran the race. There was also a tremendous response received from the young generation who were seen excited to run with their parents. Famathon saw the participation of the international participants too from Netherlands, UK and Russia.
The other event, a10 km competitive race saw a crowd of around 300 participants. The winners in the 10 km race in the female category were Chetali Bhandari, Alisha Velip and Shruti Palkar.
While in the male category it was Vijay Vishwakarma, Pradyum Naik and Devraj K respectively who emerged victorious. The winners were awarded with a trophy and 2 nights 3 days stay anywhere in India at club Mahindra as well as a one year free membership at Fitness Bar.
The other event ‘fun run’ of 1, 3 and 5 km also saw a huge participation from across all age groups.
This event was supported groups such as the fitness freaks, fitness rhythm, Girls Islamic Organisation, Gang Of Youngster, Indian Army, Welfare for Animals in Goa, Toastmaster and Goan Warriors FC.
The Director of Famathon, Rahul Kamat pointed out that looking at the current scenario where individuals are busy in their daily life there are less moments which can be celebrated together.
This event was an effort made by famathon to make them run together as a family.
The event was completed successfully without any injury.
