Chess tourney for ladies
PANJIM (HSD) – JCI, St. Inez will organise an All-Goa chess championship for ladies, at SAG Conference Hall, indoor stadium, Campal, here On August 12 and 13. The tournament is a selection tournament for the 37th National Women’s B Challenger Championship to be held in Guwahati.
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to first 10 winners.Special Prizes will be awarded to girls from U-7, U-9, U-11 and U-13 and girls from rural schools. HSS events at Mapusa
MAPUSA (HR) — The DSYA higher secondary school sports zone one events will start on August 12 at Pedem complex, here. Twenty schools in Bardez will be competing and chess will be the first event to be played. In phase one the following events will be played – chess, badminton, TT, Subroto Mukherjee football, football, swimming, judo, kabaddi, kho kho, taekwando and basketball.
Later volleyball, tennis ball cricket, tennikoit, athletics, boxing, hockey, cricket, softball, baseball, handball and shooting events will be held.
U-19 girls cricket trials
PANJIM (HSD) – The Goa Cricket Association will conduct selection trials for U-19 girls on August 7 at indoor nets, Duler, Mapusa at 3.30 p.m. Players may report with original birth certificate to coach Anuradha Redkar (9730507019) or coach Collin Rodrigues.
Chess classes at Caranzalem
PANJIM (HSD) — Regular chess coaching classes will be held at Busy Bugs, a complete hobby centre “Supreme”, near Kamat Classic, Caranzalem, for school students in association with Chess Activity Centre. 2-a-side football at St Cruz
PANJIM (HSD) – Jolly Boys SC, St Agostinho, St Cruz, will organise their 2nd all-Goa 2-a-side football tie-breaker on August 8 behind Popular Apartments, St Agostinho, St Cruz from 11 a.m.
